The Clippers have lost three consecutive games, and things could be all the more difficult on Thursday against the Nuggets and Michael Porter Jr., who has averaged 19.2 points and hit 48.5% of his 3-point attempts over his last five games. Paul George is listed as questionable (hamstring), which would remove a big name from the NBA DFS player pool, since he’s averaged 27.6 points, 6.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds in seven games since coming back from a minor knee injury. Both players are solid candidates for NBA DFS lineups, but what other players are worth considering from one of the day’s top matchups?

Kawhi Leonard missed the Clippers’ last game due to illness but should be back on the floor on Thursday. Leonard also missed the last game against the Nuggets this season, but over his last six starts, he’s averaged 23.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and shot 37.5% from beyond the 3-point line. Top NBA DFS picks for Thursday, January 5

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Thursday is Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who is listed at $11,800 on DraftKings and $11,500 on FanDuel. Jokic scored 24 points to go with nine assists, seven rebounds and two steals in his last start against Minnesota on Monday. He has scored at least 40 points in four of his last 11 games, and during that stretch, he’s averaged 29.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and 10.5 assists.

On Thursday, the Nuggets take on the Clippers, who Denver defeated by 10 points on November 25. In that game, Jokic scored a relatively low 19 points by his own standards but also finished with 13 rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block. Jokic could look for a higher offensive output with his shooting from beyond the 3-point line this time around, as he has made 5-of-8 3-pointers over his last three starts.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson ($7,300 on DraftKings and $6,800 FanDuel). Clarkson scored 24 points and made 5-of-10 3-point attempts in his last start on Tuesday against Sacramento. He has been remarkably consistent over his last 10 games and scored at least 21 points in nine of them.

The Jazz take on the Houston Rockets on Thursday, who have allowed opposing shooting guards to make an average of 3.4 3-pointers per game (fifth-most in NBA). The Jazz have already played Houston twice this season, and Clarkson has averaged 18.5 points with five rebounds and 4.5 assists in those games. Clarkson also hit 43.8% of his threes in those games, and the Rockets allowed Pelicans guard CJ McCollum to hit 5-of-11 3-pointers in their last game on Wednesday.
